The firm has a total of 27 staff including 3 Chartered Accountants; 1 ACCA qualified and several AAT qualified. Training is provided internally and through external courses.
Max, who lives in St Issey, joined Bennett Jones & Co in 1990 and became a Chartered Accountant in 1997 after completing his professional training contract with the firm.
Max is the longest serving current partner having been offered a partnership role in 2000. He has gained substantial knowledge in all areas of small to medium sized business. He has in the past lectured for the Mid Cornwall Business Centre in Truro to people intending to start their own business which covered all aspects of bookkeeping and accountancy. Max is responsible for many varied clients but particularly assists the professional client and is the partner responsible for the firms office in Fowey. He is still keen on keeping fit and can be seen at many local running and triathlon events although, by his own admission, he isnt as competitive as he once was!
Rebecca lives in Blisland, joined the firm in February 2000 shortly before completing her training to become a Chartered Accountant in July 2000.
Rebecca previously trained in another local firm and has thus, like Max Spence, benefitted from training in the region that she now works. She has in the past been a keen competitive swimmer and more recently taken up running and competes in ultra marathons. She has a growing and diverse client base and is always happy to hear from new clients.
Tim Allen was recruited to our St. Austell office in October 2000 to assist with the increasing client base there.
Tim qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1993 and became a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation in 1995.
Tim has worked in the profession for over 10 years and , as one of the few Chartered Tax Advisers in Cornwall, can give specialist advice on tax matters, particularly Capital Gains Tax and Inheritance Tax. He also handles the tax affairs of individuals and companies who work around the world in such industries as oil survey and exploration and automotive design.
Tim is familiar with a variety of computerised accounting packages and office productivity software, as well as the efficient use of e-mail and the internet.
His four children keep Tim "forever young" but when he is not helping them with their hobbies, he tries to be a target archer.
